India Guide

This is THE book to india any one thinking of going to India should get this guide book.
I bought this guide book on amazon about a month before I went travelling, and out of my friends who travelled with me, I had the best info, the most comprehensive set of guides, maps and advice and generally the most invaluable aid to my travels. all my friends referred to it over thier own, it got me to places i'd never think of going and it simply has to be the most well written, well laid out guide to india you'll get your hands on. dont even think about getting any other guide book, this is the one!

El and I set off from Reading early in the morning to pick up Nan from Wool. We had to be at the Venue Kingston Maurward College at 11:15 to perform my duties as usher. Donna arrived and had photos outside while everyone inside was wondering if she had had second thoughts and “done a runner”. Much to Matthew relief the doors opened and she walked down the row of seats looking lovely with Dad at her arm. Jacob broke up the moment to shout out hello to a friend on the side, who was then quickly scooped up by mum and taken to the front row. The weather was a bit so so and did not know what it was doing as every 5 minutes it would change its mind. But it cleared up to allow the photographer to get most of the usual mother and farther pictures in, it only tipped down after asking all the blue tie wearers to strike a slightly silly pose, hands crossed and one leg bent a right angles, serves us right for complying with him.

We all made it back to Holmebrdge were the marquee was waiting, wow it looked fantastic all pointy bits like a flash Gordon film ;-). Dad made a fantastic fathers speech to Donna, which made me very proud of him, well done Dad. Matthew’s was very slushy and romantic as the grooms speech should be and the best men’s speech WWF style by Jack and Tim was very funny. From then on in, it was a hazy daze of champagne and wine. The bands were great and had everyone up head banging and jumping around like nutters, Dad and I even did the “wipe out”.

The next day the survivors all went for a walk down to the river and had a great time mucking around jumping in the water and splashing around.

The next day we all went for a walk down to the ford and Jake tried to pump some water out of dry well. This damm hose pipe ban will be the death of people.

Message from Karen:

Hi All,

Well finally i have been allowed out of hospital so thought I'd send a quick email with a few details. Forgive me if you already know some things - its just this is a group email to save on time for the moment.

Isabel (known as Izzy to her friends) Branagh was delivered by emergency c-section on 1st August at 3.43am. She weighed 6lb 3 and was 51cms long. To look at she is tiny but quite long and doesn't seem to fit in most of the baby grows we have bought. Quite funny as they look ridiculously over sized on her.

I am feeling pretty sore and although glad to be at home cant do anything. Very frustrating. But hey the baby is ok and I am no longer waddling about. Not that everyone else is I am so grateful the weather has got cooler!!!

Anyway.. I am sure I shall speak to you all in time but just wanted to send an initial hello.

Miss and love you all lots,

Kazee.

why americans should never be allowed to travel

why americans should never be allowed to travel:
"Why Americans Should Never Be Allowed To Travel

The following are actual stories provided by travel agents:

I had someone ask for an aisle seats so that his or her hair wouldn't get messed up by being near the window.

A client called in inquiring about a package to Hawaii. After going over all the cost info, she asked, 'Would it be cheaper to fly to California and then take the train to Hawaii?'

I got a call from a woman who wanted to go to Capetown. I started to explain the length of the flight and the passport information when she interrupted me with 'I'm not trying to make you look stupid, but Capetown is in Massachusetts. 'Without trying to make her look like the stupid one, I calmly explained, 'Capecod is in Massachusetts, Capetown is in Africa.' Her response ... click.

A man called, furious about a Florida package we did. I asked what was wrong with the vacation in Orlando. He said he was expecting an ocean-view room. I tried to explain that is not possible, since Orlando is in the middle of the state. He replied, 'Don't lie to me. I looked on the map and Florida is a very thin state.'

I got a call from a man who asked, 'Is it possible to see England from Canada?' I said, 'No.' He said 'But they look so close on the map.'

Another man called and asked if he could rent a car in Dallas. When I pulled up the reservation, I noticed he had a 1-hour lay over in Dallas. When I asked him why he wanted to rent a car, he said, 'I heard Dallas was a big airport, and I need a car to drive between the gates to save time.'

A nice lady just called. She needed to know how it was possible that her flight from Detroit left at 8:20am and got into Chicago at 8:33am. I tried to explain that Michigan was an hour ahead of llinois, but she could not understand the concept of time zones. Finally I told her the plane went very fast, and she bought that!"

Matthew's stag - Newquay May 06

MJB stag - Newquay May 06
Originally uploaded by kieran_saunders.

The weekend started with a phone call from Donna telling everyone that Matthew the stag, had a very bad case of Delhi belly, and might not be able to attend his own event.

I arranged to meet Rupert at Bristol parkway and give him a lift down to the campsite in Newquay for the weekend of “Run to the Sun” or if you had a bit of gaffer tape “RTTS 06”.

We all met in a pub in newquay for a pint to start the weekend off as we mean to continue, and then all drove up to the camp site to see what all the fuss was about.
Friday night was great, a few beers in the “luxury caravan” and off for a night in the town. We were having such a good time that we forgot to have dinner and ended up eating a pasty for tea… not the best way to start a night of beer. So a night ranging from a live folk band to a tent full of pilled up northerners pasted in a flash.

Queue next morning and a hangover from hell, with only 4 hours sleep (sleeping in the kiddy bed did not help)… after bullying Martin and Tim that they really, really wanted to go surfing, we drove down to the beach and slipped on our wet suits. After a ten minute jog and a bit of yoga we all had a practice on our board doing a bit of board boarding in the sea. After ½ an hour or so out we crawled, knackered and cold. We then got told how to “pop up” this looks really easy, do a push up, turn side ways and lead up on to your feet, easy my ass, and that was on the land. Anyway we all managed to get up, even if it was for 5 seconds.

Matthew turned up half way through the lesson, shame that he could not do it as I am sure that he would be very good at it!.

So after the lesson it was back to the site for another round of Stella before going into town for dinner. We finally managed to find some grub in a beer garden of a pub.
Another night of Rock / Cheese and trance came to a halt at 4:30. I was very happy that we were not camping as Luke said that he got back to his tent and found that the music started up again at 6am !!!

A great weekend, we might have to do another one when Matthew is on better form!

Message from Eleanor to all who came.

"Thanks everyone for coming to my party yesterday - especially those of you who travelled from as far away as Stroud, Bicester, Frome, Worthing and even Portland! It was wonderful to see you all and I hope you had as good time as I did and I apologise if I didn't get to speak to you for very long - it seemed so manic but I think I managed to at least say 'hello' and 'goodbye' to everyone.

Thanks also to all the gifts that people bought me it was very kind and please forgive me if I don't thank you individually - I hope I did on the day and for those of you who were kind enough to give me vouchers/cash I will be sure to keep you posted as to what contribution they have made to my travel plans.

I had a fantastic day and ate more scones and cake that I care to admit. There was still plenty left over so both mine and Kieran's workplaces will be tucking in today as well.

Finally just want to say a big thanks to my poor long-suffering parents who let all the kids trash the house and all the grown-ups trash the garden! The bathroom is nearly finished in my place and the kitchen is begin ripped out soon so I promise that once it is in a fit state again you can have a raucous party at my place to make up for it!

Have a great Monday everyone and keep an eye on www.mrszang.blogspot.com for the party pix which I will upload at some point this week."

Tiling and Life plans

Not much to say this month apart from my god I am glad the tiling is done (even if Eleanor did most of it), my flat (210 Basingstoke road for 107'000) fell on its face, which turned out to be ok, as it forced me to clear all my student debts. So from now on all my wages are my own, well apart from the tax man, the gas man, the water, electricity, car insurence man, and of course my sexy landlord that all want a part of it, but mostly it's all mine. Now I have 7 months to save 7'000 pounds if I want to have enough money to go traveling.

We have the back packs, the hand free torch and the desperate need not to be bored at work.

Gareth's Stag party started off on Saturday 18th March

After dragging our asses out of bed at 9am, after 13 hours of drinking the day before, we drove out of Edinburgh to a clay pigeon shooting centre. Why they let a bunch of half cut English yobs loose with a shotgun I will never know. Anyway no one got hurt, but then again nothing got hit at all, the biggest winners were the clay pigeons who kept on breaking apart and hitting the spectators.

Later we managed a few Guinness in the Three Sisters watching the 5 nation's rugby, with most of Ireland in the pub. Which was fun all together now "singing cockles and mussels alive, alive 'o'".

After the customary curry it was off to the pub again and highlight of the evening which was to see Gareth get made up like a fairy.
